River Rafting:

I went rafting with fellow Parks and Recreation Commissioner, Ed Mussman and other rafting enthusiasts in May 2006.

The south fork of the American River was one of few rivers open this spring due to extremely high and swift water. South fork flow was 7,500 cubic feet/sec, so the day trip down to the entrance of Folsom Lake was very quick!

Shoreline Sailors and Kiting Enthusiasts:

For wind and other weather, you can check local airports:

Palo Alto Airport tape recorded weather hourly 10 to 15 minutes before the hour local time: 650.858.0606. Also on Airband Radio Frequency 135.275 MHz.

Moffett Federal Field - Automated voice-synthesized transmission updated real time: 650.604.1529. Also on Airband Radio Frequency 124.175 MHz

Wind reported is from magnetic direction in knots.

"Wind 360 at 6" means wind from Magnetic North at 6 knots (7 mph).

From the beach in front of the café, Magnetic North is almost exactly along the paddle boat dock to the right.

"Wind Calm" means go later or a different day!

Happy Sailing!
